FAQs
Who requires NYC Site Safety Training?
The NYC Department of Buildings (DOB) now mandates that construction and demolition workers must obtain an SST card and complete 40 hours of DOB-approved Site Safety Training. Without an SST card, workers will not be authorized to work at any construction site in New York City with a Site Safety Plan. Local Law 196 training requirements must be met by all construction sites with a Site Safety Plan.
What is New York City Local Law 196?
Local Law 196 of 2017 stipulates that construction workers and supervisors at most major worksites within the five boroughs must undergo additional safety training. This law applies to all NYC construction sites with a Site Safety Plan and features a designated construction supervisor, site safety coordinator, or site safety manager.
How do NYC construction workers maintain compliance?
NYC construction workers must complete 40 hours of Site Safety Training to obtain an SST Worker card (supervisors require 62 hours). This can be achieved through any DOB-approved training provider.
Our DOB-approved SST training empowers construction workers to meet their Local Law 196 training requirements entirely online. Upon successful completion of the training's final exam, workers can immediately access their certificate of completion, and their 40-hour SST Worker card will be issued.
To fulfill the mandatory 40 hours and obtain your card, simply enroll in "NYC SST: 40 Hour Site Safety Training for Workers." This package includes the essential 30-Hour OSHA for Construction, 8-Hour Fall Prevention, and 2-Hour Drug and Alcohol Awareness courses.
