Instructional Designer
Position available with fast-growing technical company based in Houston that specializes in Web-based training. Great benefits and casual work environment.
Responsibilities
Position reports to the VP of Operations and serves as Instructional Designer within a multi-disciplinary team to create interactive Web-based training courses and similar products with instructional design, writing/storyboarding, and project management duties. General roles and responsibilities are summarized below:

Instructional Design: Interface with client-side subject matter experts for content/task analyses and project management. Apply ID expertise to identify objectives, design course content and layout, create e-learning storyboards, and write assessment measures. Contribute to defining course development guidelines. Lead the content development team through the course development cycle. Ensure quality control of instructional design and content accuracy and adherence to product design guidelines. Actively collaborate with product management and engineering in the innovation of creative e-learning products and of software tools to support the content development team. Research and keep abreast of evolving instructional design standards and innovations in the industry.

Writing/Storyboarding: Author course content and storyboards for appropriate reading level. Define writing standards. Contribute to writing development standards and guidelines. Apply grammatical and writing-style expertise consistently. Author sales collateral, marketing materials, website content, and white papers as required. Copyedit and assure quality and timeliness of all courses and other product copy.
Job Experience
Candidate must be able to demonstrate curriculum design and needs assessment/diagnostic skills, authoritative understanding of adult learning theory, and familiarity with e-learning industry standards. Candidate should be able to provide samples of written work product. Candidate must have solid communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, able to facilitate cross-discipline understanding and application of ID concepts in product development. Successful candidate will have an enthusiasm for excellent and innovative work, multi-tasking and prioritizing capabilities, and an ability to work well independently and within teams. They will also demonstrate a willingness to learn new technologies and an ability to produce extremely professional, detail-oriented designs in a casual, self-paced work environment.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree, preferably in education or related discipline. Advanced degree in instructional design, education, instructional technology, learning sciences, adult education, or related discipline strongly preferred

Two+ years of experience in curriculum design and development

Demonstrated understanding of Web-based learning technologies, products, and implementation strategies, and the use of the Web as an instructional medium

Proficient in use of MS Word, Excel, MS PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.

Excellent client consulting/interfacing skills and business acumen

Must possess strong problem solving, critical thinking, conflict mediation, and information synthesizing skills

Exceptional attention to detail and quality control of work

Self motivated, able to work with minimum supervision and exhibits excellent initiative, intensity, and motivation

Ability to work under a tight production schedule, to handle multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines

Must possess strong writing and editing skills; knowledge of grammar and punctuation is essential

A team player committed to collaboration and facilitation of team effectiveness

Must have high/outstanding Integrity

Ability to code in HTML & XML is a plus

Experience leading project teams through the design and development process is preferred.
